TRADITION AND CULTURE

It is to be enchanted by the impressive and incomparable architectonic style of Koprivshtitsa. The village is characterized by the numerous historic houses and courtyards. The artistically beautiful old wooden gates and doors and the myriad stone water wells are living reminders of the past.

Koprivshtitsa is a home of two most exceptional churches. The church 'Saint Bogoroditsa, erected in 1817 in the typical style, has an exceptionally serene atmosphere. The sparsely lighted interior holds priceless icons and other historical treasures. The Saint Nicholas church was completed in 1844 and is even more massive and impuissant.

Applied arts have a long tradition in Koprivshtitsa. Wood carvers manufacture artistic ceiling components and frames for icons and paintings. Women weave weave the traditional cloaks and blankets as their grandmothers did before them. The delicious varieties of home-made cranberry jam and pine honey are also delightful souvenirs.
